As Link laid Pit on a bed in the hospital wing, the smaller male’s condition had significantly worsened.

His breathing had slowed down to weak, irregular strokes; his skin was really hot to the touch, causing a thin sheet of sweat to shine on his body; even his light bracelets had lost a majority of their light since the angel’s power was nearly drained.

Nocturne was the only other person to come in the hospital with Link (the others stayed in the waiting room). The shadow shifter tried to see into Pit’s mind, but all he saw was pitch black, “…I can’t see anything…”

“Wh-What?” Link stuttered, “…I thought you could still read minds, even if the person is knocked out or unconscious….”

“That’s true, but for some reason, all I’m seeing is darkness…” Nocturne replied, as he looked at the weakened angel, “…He must’ve slipped into a comatose state… That can be the only explanation…”

Link’s eyes widened, “A-A coma?!”

Just then, Dr. Mario came in and placed the unresponsive brunette on oxygen to assist his irregular breathing as Link slowly sat on the edge of the hospital bed. When the doctor lifted one of Pit’s eyes open, his irises were a sleepy grey color, “Grey eyes… that means he’s going to be like this for a while…”

“Can you tell us what happened?” Nocturne questioned in a concerned tone.

The Italian doctor glanced down at the angel, “…I talked to Yami earlier and from what he told me, this wasn’t supposed to happen…”

Link’s mouth was slightly agape, “What do you… What are you talking about?”

“The Kiss of Life…” Dr. Mario began, “is simply supposed to bring a person back to life, and that’s it… It doesn’t heal any abrasions or wounds.”

Nocturne stared at Pit, then back at the doctor, “…Wait, are you saying Pit used a different type of spell?”

“Not exactly… He used the Kiss of Life properly, but, look at the band on his leg…” The doctor moved Pit’s tunic a little to show his left leg better and pointed to the leg band on his thigh, which had dimmed to a dark gold color, “…Notice anything strange about it and the light bracelets on his arm?”

Link examined them closely, “…They’re… not as bright as they’re supposed to be…”

Dr. Mario nodded, “Exactly… the gold band on Pit’s leg is the source of his immortality. It’s attached to him and can’t be removed…”

‘…So that’s why he never takes it off…’ the Hylian thought to himself.

“…and the light rings on his arm allow him to use his immortality as power.”

It was a no-brainer for Nocturne to put two and two together, “So he used his immortality to heal Link’s slashed throat.”

Link gasped lightly, his eyes falling to half-lids as he gazed at his precious angel, ‘…Pit…’

“Precisely. And since he was using the Kiss in conjunction with the healing spell, it sapped a pretty good amount of his energy… So he’ll be in this coma-like state for a while… He’ll wake up when his body has reenergized itself to full health…”

Link nodded softly as he stared back at Pit, sweeping a hand through his silky chocolate locks, “…Can I stay with him? Please?”

Dr. Mario nodded back, and then glanced at Nocturne, “If the others want to see him, they can, but only for a few minutes…”

“Nah…” the dark Hylian brushed off his offer, “…we all agreed that this is a time that should only be for Link and Pit…”

“Understandable… I’ll leave you two be while I go care for Falco.” The doctor placed his glasses back on and skimmed over Falco’s medical record on his clipboard as he strolled into the other wing of the hospital.

Link smiled at his dark twin, “Thanks for that…”

“Eh, don’t get mushy on me, you know I despise mushiness…” Nocturne replied, getting ready to walk out before he turned back and smirked at his lighter half, “…But you’re welcome.”

The blond playfully muttered, “…Idiot…” under his breath as the dark knight continued on his way out.

Link lightly kissed the sleeping angel’s forehead as he laid beside him, wrapping one of Pit’s wings around himself to keep warm; plus, the airy scent of his wings always comforted Link. He snuggled close to Pit, using the smaller male’s shoulder as a pillow and slowly drifted off to sleep

‘Get well soon, my angel…’

-Two Months Later-

~*~

Link was leaning against the windowsill as a crisp October breeze brushed past him. Winter was approaching, which happened to be the blond’s favorite time of year. He was patiently waiting for Pit to wake up since this would be the angel’s first winter.

Over the last couple of weeks, Pit’s grave condition had drastically improved, and he was taken off the oxygen since he was breathing on his own. Dr. Mario said that it was only a matter of time before the white angel would awaken from his coma-like state.

Soon, night fell, and Link was once again by Pit’s bedside when the angel began stirring and softly whimpering in his sleep, “…Nngh…”

The Hylian suddenly bolted up, gazing at the brunette and tightening his hold on the angel’s hand, “…Pit…”

The small angel lightly squeezed the blond’s hand, and when he picked up the familiar scent of the forest, he knew who was with him, “…L-Link…?”

As Pit softly opened his blue eyes, Link smiled, “…You’re awake…”

BAM!

Pit sucker punched Link dead in the face, successfully knocking the Hylian clean off the hospital bed and onto the floor in a crumpled heap. “OW!” Link rose to his feet, now sporting a black eye as he glared at his lover, “Pit! What the hell was that for?!”

“That’s for being a damned emo idiot and killing yourself!” Pit yelled as he glared back.

“Well, I know that, but did you have to punch me?!”

“I had to knock some sense into you!”

“Well, you did a damn good job of it because now I have a black eye!”

Pit and Link continued staring at each other with heated glares for a few agonizing seconds before they both sighed in defeat, calming themselves down and relaxing their flared tempers.

“Good, I got THAT out of my system…” the angel replied.

Link couldn’t help but laugh a little as he reseated himself near Pit on the edge of the mattress, “Wow… Nice left hook; you truly are the original Sin of Wrath…”

“Meh… I still need to work on my temper control… but anyways…” Pit threw his arms around Link, clinging to him desperately, “…I’m just happy that you’re alive and well…”

Link immediately returned the embrace as he leaned his head on top of Pit’s, gently nuzzling his hair, “…And I’m relieved that you’re okay and back in my arms…. And that we’re back together…”

Pit nodded, smiling as he gazed up into the blond’s electric blue eyes, “…I’ve missed you so much…”

“…I’ve missed you, too…” Link replied, gently rocking back and forth , planting a kiss on Pit’s forehead before pulling him back into a tight hug.

The couple remained like that for a while, simply basking in the other male’s warmth and savoring how wrapped up they were in each other’s arms. It had been a long time—too long, in fact—since Link and Pit had cuddled like this…

While the reunited couple snuggled, Nocturne, Yami, Ike, and Peach were spying on them from behind the curtain of a far away bed.

Peach let out a happy sigh of relief, “They’re finally back together… Just how it should be…”

Nocturne nodded in agreement, “About damn time, too… I was this close to locking those two in a giant bird cage and keeping them in there until they made up…”

Yami shuddered at the word “bird cage.” He hated the stupid things with a passion, ‘The bane of my existence…’ “…Noctyyyy…” he whined childishly, pouting at the dark swordsman.

Nocturne looked at him, and then remembered how much the dark angel despised bird cages, “…Oh… sorry…”

“Hopefully, things will be better from here on out…” Ike added as an afterthought to Peach’s comment.

As Link deeply breathed in the angel’s unique scent, something popped into his mind and he quietly asked, “…Pit?”

“Hmm?”

“…That day, when you saved my life…” Link timidly asked, pausing for a second, “…what were you going to say before you passed out?”

Pit blushed and clung to the Hylian tighter, his eyes going half-lidded as he softly answered, “I was going to say… that…” the angel smiled, “…that I forgive you…”

Link’s heart fluttered, his eyes slightly widening before a genuine smile graced his face, “…Thank you…”

Before Pit could answer back, a pillow suddenly collided with the back of his head, making the angel see stars.  “What the--?” Link turned his head only to come face-to-face with another pillow, causing him to see stars as well.

Nocturne snickered loudly as Yami yelled, “There's more where that came from! But just incase you two decide to be dick farts and do something as stupid as before again I will throw a conveniently placed bed to REMIND you!!”

Ike gave Yami a serious round of applause while Peach sighed in defeat, shamefully shaking her head.

When Link and Pit regained their senses, they glared at Yami, who smirked evilly before high-tailing it out of there, and the Hylian and angel immediately bolted after him.

The next three hours consisted of Link and Pit chasing Yami around the whole mansion so that the couple could quote, “sew Yami’s nuts to his wings and roll him back to Purgatory.”
FINALLY GOT IT DONE!!!

As for the long long LONG delay:

School, Life, and Fanfiction fucked me up.

P.S. Thanks to :iconxxkudokuokamixx: for her assistance with some of Yami’s lines.

And no, Chapter 30 IS NOT the last chapter! 40 will be the last chapter.
